My day so far

I don't know about you but I've been finding it very hard to get motivated today.
You can hardly blame me though, I mean it's July
and this is what greeted me when I opened the curtains this morning.

A drab grey rainy horrible cold morning.

Dylan is going on a school trip to an orchard farm today.
I just hope it will stay dry when they are touring the grounds and
picking the fruits.
I think they might spend some time inside the farm house, Dylan
told me they are going to bake apple pies with the apples they pick.
He'd better save a piece for me.
Hmmm, apple pie.
Anyway, I packed his wellies and his raincoat, stuffed it all in a
backpack and sent him off to school wishing him a super fun day.
Can't wait to hear all about it when he gets back.

Emily couldn't quite find her motivation either this morning

For the first half hour of the day she wasn't "feeling very well".
I think she was hoping to pull of a sicky.
When I told her no going to school meant no Rainbows tonight she quickly
perked up and ten minutes later she came running up the stairs telling
me she was ready to get dressed.

After I dropped off the kiddies and got back home I quickly tidied
the house. You know the drill, putting away dishes, hoovering floors,
wiping counter tops and the table, picking up stuff that doesn't belong where it was
left, emptying the washing machine and folding the laundry and so on.
I find it so much easier to relax when everything is clean and in its place.
Only downside? As soon as the kids and husband walk through the door
items start reappearing EVERYWHERE!
At least for now the living room looks tidy.

So this is where I am sitting right now, laptop on the table and enjoying a cup
of hot chocolate and some freshly baked croissants.
It looks something like that

I must remember thank my kids later for leaving fingerprints all over the laptop!

So that's it, that's all I've been doing so far today.
Later on I will brave the weather, go to the shop and get something for
tonight's dinner. I'm thinking chicken casserole.
I will also get a BIG bar of chocolate and my afternoon will be
spend watching a good movie until the kids are back.
Yep
sounds good to me!

Cake pops anyone?

Today I decided to make some cake pops.
I've seen these little yummies pop up on several blogs now...
about time they made an appearance on mine!
I found the recipe on Erika's blog

Oreo and mascarpone cake pops (oh yesssss!!!)

Three packets of Oreos (154g each)
250g  Mascarpone cheese
White chocolate
Lollipop sticks
Sprinkles

Step 1. Blend the Oreo cookies in a food processor until
all crumbled and fine.
It helps if you have a cute assistant helping you out.

Step 2. Add the mascarpone cheese

Step 3. Blend it all together, not easy at first and it took me a good five
minutes and a lot of muscle power to get it to the right consistency.
You should end up with something that looks like dirt from the garden.

Step 4. Roll into balls and place on a baking sheet, then place in the freezer
for about 15 minutes.

Step 5. Melt the chocolate and dip the end of the lollipop sticks into this.
Then insert them into the cake balls. Place back in the freezer
for about five minutes, allowing the chocolate to harden.

Step 6. Coat the cake pops in chocolate and add sprinkles, leave to dry.
Make sure you buy enough chocolate, I didn't and have two cake pops
who are feeling very sorry for them selves.
Also, unless you are super handy and know what you are doing, prepare
for this stage to be slightly messy!

Step 7. Eat and enjoy, they are heaven on a stick!

Downton Abbey style

Remember when I showed you this dress a couple of weeks ago?
I finally got to wear it.
We went to a murder mystery party on Saturday and we had to be dressed
up Downton Abbey style.
What do you think, could I pass for a Downton lady?

I styled my hair in a bun, something I don't do often enough
apparently as everybody kept commenting on how I should
wear it up more.

I just have to thank my husband here for not telling me my bra straps
were showing!
I love the earrings, my friend lend them to me. They really suited
the theme.

The evening was a blast.
We had a really nice meal and meanwhile had to figure out
who had murdered our host.
There were some actors we had to mingle with and collect clues.
It wasn't easy but we did solve the mystery
and caught the murderer.

Great fun!

Blame it on The Hunger Games

I haven't been on my blog in nearly a week!
Shocking right.
I was in fact in another world, transported to Panem and taking part
in the Hunger Games.
The kids gave me the books as an early mother's day present and
I haven't been able to stop reading ever since.
Reason I got them early is because I really wanted
to read them before seeing the movie.
I LOVE them....and my amazing kiddies (and husband) for
getting them for me.

But let's recap what else has happened.

On Wednesday me and my friends were in the audience
for a TV show called Celebrity Juice.
It was HILARIOUS.
The recording lasted about three hours but that then
got compressed into 45 minutes for the TV show.
I know most of you might not know Celebrity Juice.
It's a panel show hosted by Keith Lemon and it
contains a lot of adult humour.
Each week different celebs take part, one of them
this week being Mel B (Scary Spice)
Here is a clip that was taken the night we were there
You might not want to watch if you are easily offended

And here's me and my friends after the show, in front
of the girly bedroom!

On Saturday we went to a family BBQ which was loads of fun.
Nice to catch up with everyone again and to see
the kiddies playing with their cousins.

Sunday was mothers day and my babies really treated me!
They brought me breakfast in bed and showered me with
presents.
So on top of The Hunger Games books I got all of this

oh, and a pair of red wedges!

We went out for ice cream, desserts and hot chocolate in
the afternoon.
It was the perfect day.

Today wasn't so perfect.
Remember the big spider I was talking about last Tuesday...
yeah...it was back today!!!!
I pulled out my black top it was on last week (my friend had checked it
and everything) and as I was putting it over my head something
landed on my foot.
THE SPIDER.
I had a full blown panic attack, sprayed about a bottle of
hairspray on it and then Dylan put a cereal bowl over it.
Every muscle in my body is hurting now from straining and my
voice is hoarse from the noises I made
BUT
the spider is gone.

All is can say is PHEW
and I am so exhausted now I might just fall asleep.

Hope you all have a good week

Tuesday randoms!

I came across this poster earlier and found it too funny not to share!
And since this is going to be a post about random things I might as
well start with a random poster.
My cat loves it when I give her food with my grabby things,
she's only keen on the thing where naggy sounds come from
when those sounds aren't too loud and as for the trampoline...
she tried once and never dared again I think.
Cats eh, they think they own us!

Speaking about cats, my cat is such a messy eater and totally
disgusted with the "cheap food" I bought her yesterday.
There is spillage all around her food bowl, it makes the kitchen
look so messy and where I've been out all morning, I haven't had
the time to do much tidying. Dishes are still out, iron needs to be
put away, crumbs on floor need to be swept, etc.
I was going to take a photo but thought NO, I'm not
going to put a photo of my messy kitchen on here....so I
googled....and this is what came up
OMG SERIOUSLY!!!!!
Imagine if you needed to find a teaspoon.
Unbelievable how people can let their house get like that.
It makes me less guilty of my kitchen now Ive seen that that's for sure!

Another thing I wanted to share today is the gorgeous dress
I bought yesterday
In a couple of weeks time I have to go to a Downton Abbey
murder mystery party and we all have to dress up.
I'm sooooo excited about this and can't wait to try this dress on.
My friend has lend me the most beautiful Victorian looking earrings,
I'm so lucky!

You know who else is lucky?
My son Dylan.
He got a game's voucher for a present and we took
him to the game shop and when we took his chosen
game to the till the price that came up when the guy scanned it was
98 pence!
($1.50)
They 'd forgotten to price it so had no choice as to give it
to him for 98 pence. Lucky Dylan.
He ended up choosing another game on top and walked out with
two games for the price of one!

I was going through some old movies
this weekend and found this cute video of Emily.
Two years ago there was a fashion show at Dylan's school and
Emily decided to get up on the catwalk and do her bit
She was not even part of the fashion show but she was so cute

She also tried my wedding dress on on Friday when it was our
10th anniversary

And...
Since I started with a random photo I might as well end with one!

Hilarious!
