Christmas morning

Is there any morning more magical than Christmas morning? I don't think so. This year Santa found his way to our house yet again. The kids were of course delighted. I went down just before them so I could take a photo of them running down and catching a glimpse of their excited faces. 

They got everything they wished for this year. Dylan really wanted some board games and a game for his DS and Emily wished for the My Little Pony wedding castle and some art and craft stuff. Santa did not disappoint. Not only did he fill their stockings to the brim, he even brought them some extra presents!

 

Emily was particularly pleased to see Santa had eaten the biscuits and the reindeer had nibbled on the carrots and reindeer food.

They were really really spoilt this year! As much fun as it was for them to open all their presents, it was much more fun for us to see their happy faces and hear their excited voices. A magical morning indeed.

Hotel Chocolat Classic Christmas selection review

When I was asked if I wanted to review one of the Hotel Chocolat's Christmas selection boxes I didn't need to think very  long! The chocoholic in me was literally doing a little dance.
I was given the choice of some amazing Christmas selection boxes and decided to go with the  Sleekster Classic Christmas selection.

A few days later the box arrived and I was over the moon with my choice! Now this isn't just any chocolate selection box, oh no, it's so much more luxurious and elegant than the chocolate boxes you can buy in the supermarkets. The packaging is beautiful but more importantly the chocolates were well protected on their travels! No one wants broken squished chocolates right! The classic Christmas selection has 28 chocolates and offers a selection of whites, milks and darks. The chocolates themselves are beautifully decorated and their taste is exquisite.

There really is something for everyone in this box! Needless to say I had a hard time deciding which chocolate to go for first but I settled on the  Christmas Mess (Fabulously fruity cranberry ganache and strawberry mousse with meringue sprinkles)

Boy oh boy, this chocolate did not disappoint and it was definitely my favourite. It was like a little taste explosion, full of flavour but not in a sickly way. fabulous! I quickly moved on to sample some others and they were all sublime! Here are some of my other favourites.

Pistachio praline crunch, Mulled port, Caramel supernova, Chambord Royale
All of them were just divine! I did feel I had to share this box and the kids and husband were more than happy to help. Dylan chose the 50% Milk Bauble and Emily Chose the White Chocolate and Vanilla Bell. I would love to comment on these particular chocolates but before I could even ask for a little nibble they were devoured! The kids verdict: " yum yum, can we have another one?!"

So, with Christmas lurking around the corner why not surprise someone with this Classic Christmas selection. It would make the perfect gift to any chocolate lover and a fantastic introduction to  Hotel Chocolat. It retails at £23 and is well worth the price! You can purchase these in store or online.

Saturday is food day   How cute are these little Christmas pudding truffles!!  

recipe here   I think they look pretty amazing and the recipe seems quite straight forward...so much so that I'm pretty sure we'll be devouring some of these fairly soon. Yummy!   Sunday is entertainment day.   The kids have seen a preview of the new Disney movie Frozen and can't wait to go and see it.

You can buy this book here I have just bought this book for my kids as part of a Christmas present. It's an endearing story about a girl called Ebony who is being raised by her grandfather and one day finds herself in an amazing adventure. The book has got some really good reviews and I can't wait to read it with them and admire the no doubt beautiful illustrations. If you are still looking for a kids present I would definitely recommend it!

Time to get festive indeed! Although the festive season should not be an excuse for candles...In our house candles are an all year round thing. I do love Yankee candles. Apparently I spend way too much time in a shop if they have a Yankee candle range, they all smell so divine it's hard to make a choice. The Christmas candles are a must at this time of year though, we have the season of peace one and it smells so good! I'm very tempted to get the snowflake cookie one, after all, there's nothing more welcoming than a house smelling of cookies. Which is your favourite Yankee candle?

So, Christmas jumpers, you either love them or hate them and this year it seems very hard to get away from them...they are literally everywhere. I haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet but this one might make me change my mind.
