What a day yesterday!
Simon went in for his surgery and I
am happy to say it all went well. He should be
coming back home in a couple of days.
I was a nervous wreck all morning though.
The afternoon was crazy with running back and forth between
the hospital and picking the kids up from school.
I'm so lucky to have good friends that helped me
out all day and even had my kiddies for an
hour after school so I could go back and see Simon after
he'd woken up from his surgery.
Yesterday Emily also finally came home with class teddy Gemma.
I say finally because she's been waiting to get Gemma
ever since October.
You can imagine how happy my little girl was when she
walked out of the classroom, she had the BIGGEST smile on her face!
She played with her all evening.
One of the games she played with Gemma was tea party.
It was adorable.
I love how girls just know how to play tea parties,
I mean it's not like I have tea parties all the time, or ever!
Maybe it's just something us girls are born with,
like playing moms and dads or looking
after our baby dollies.
After the tea party was finished she took Gemma fishing.
Can you see how amazed Gemma is by Emily's fishing skills here!
After the fishing adventure they read some books together,
can I just say my little girl is the BEST reader ever!
I'm amazed at how well she reads, bearing in mind she's only 5.
She can read most words in the books she brings back
from school and is forever spelling out words she
doesn't immediately recognise.
Very proud of my peanut!
In other news...
This morning I woke up to find a dead mouse in my
dining room!
Eva, our cat, had caught it.
When I let her in last night she went all crazy
next to our bookshelf.
She had obviously seen the mouse and was trying to get to it.
I thought she'd seen a big spider and since I'm terrified
of spiders I closed the door and went upstairs.
It was quite the surprise when I walked in this morning and saw
the dead mouse.
On an empty stomach, yay. Luckily there was no blood.
By the way, doesn't Eva look evil in that photo.
I keep telling the kids to be careful whenever they
take our hamster Biscuit out of his cage.
guy now would we!
I also have to tell you this BRILLIANT news...

I'm so glad Simon's surgery went well. I bet it will be so nice to have him home!
Gemma is absolutely amazed by Emily's fishing skills - as am I. ;) You're going to have your hands full as Emily gets older - Princess Nagger was a reader like that at 5, too - sometimes she's too smart for our own good. ;)
Eva definitely looks like a good mouser - bet she scared the mouse to death with that look. :)

OMG! That is one thing cats are good for is getting rid of unwanted guests! I'm thinking of getting an outside cat to keep snakes at bay. We have a lot of those around here. EEK!
That hamster is beyond cute! Yes, please keep him away from the killer cat! =)
Thank you so much for linking up with us! We appreciate it!
Love cats for exactly that reason. I never have to worry about mice.
I would have lost it! We have had a few "mishaps" with hamsters....its never good to see your dog licking her lips at the same time you hear your child screaming "Twinkie"!
I lovethe feeling that comes over you as a parent when your kids do something wonderful, learning to read was one of those moments most definitely!
Thanks for linking up with us!
Such a pretty cat... she definitely looks like she is one you don't want to mess with though.
amazing pics :-)
kisses
Your children are gorgeous!
I can honestly say I have never once in my life played Tea Pary
